This event is part of a series of evenings under &#8220;Building the Nation\u2019s Ideas from the Good Saying.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Mohammad Fakhruddin, the branch president, opened the evening by discussing the reason for choosing the seminar topic in the contemporary era and the similarities between current events and the time of Imam al-Ashari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notably, Prof. Azmil bin Zain al-Abidin, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought, delivered a speech titled: &#8220;Sectarian Conflict and Disputes Before the Emergence of the Ashari School, and the Balanced and Moderate Approach of Abu al-Hasan al-Ashari among Extremists. Additionally, Dr. Faizuri bin Abdul Latif, a faculty member in the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought, spoke on &#8220;The Positive Impact of Studying Abu al-Hasan al-Ashari\u2019s Methodology in Uniting Muslims Today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lecture covered several key topics, including an introduction to Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaah and Abu al-Hasan al-Ashari, the efforts of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in promoting Asharism and its balanced approach within the Muslim Ummah, the current global context and its need for this methodology, and the benefits of applying the principles and constants of the Ashari school in the contemporary era.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Malaysia branch of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates held an evening event titled: \u201cImam Al-Ashari and Uniting the Word of Muslims,\u201d based on the book by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb. The Activities of the Association the association offers several activities to members living in Egypt. It also offers scholarships in one of the Islamic sciences faculties at al-Azhar University such as Usul ad-Deen, Islamic Shariah, Arabic Language, Arabic and Islamic Studies, and Islamic Dawah. Scholarships are offered at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Moreover, the association is considering a number of proposals to consolidate relations with al-Azhar alumni scattered in Islamic and non-Islamic countries. This requires coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Azhari delegations. One of the ideas is the establishment of branches of the association in the countries where great numbers of al-Azhar alumni are found. Another suggestion is to invite some of the alumni scholars to attend conferences and symposiums organized by the Association. In addition, the association gives increasing attention to international students in Egypt by holding meetings to get acquainted with their problems and find the best ways to solve them. It also organizes seminars and conferences and provides students the opportunity to participate in cultural, social, and entertainment activities. The association is also studying a number of proposals to upgrade and support al-Azhar alumni in foreign countries. This is achieved through holding an annual celebration for distributing excellence awards for best graduates such as the best Master\\u2019s and Ph.D. and theses awards in the field of Islamic Sciences. This is done after an academic committee chooses among the best theses that obtained the degree of excellent with honors.
