The branch of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in the city of Qardho organized an important awareness lecture entitled “Women’s Rights in Islamic Law” as part of its summer awareness programs, aimed at serving society, promoting a culture of correct understanding of religion, and fostering the values of moderation. The lecture was delivered by Adna Omar, a member of the organization and a graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences, highlighting several rights guaranteed to women by Islam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lecture discussed women’s right to physical and psychological security, emphasizing that the right to physical security is one of the fundamental rights recognized by true Shariah. This right ensures that women live in safety and peace, free from any form of harm, abuse, or humiliation\u2014whether within the family or in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She explained how the Prophet (PBUH) defended women and forbade harming them, emphasizing that one of the greatest messages of the Prophet (PBUH) was to elevate the status of women, preserve their dignity, and prevent all forms of harm inflicted upon them during the pre-Islamic era of ignorance, whether physical, psychological, or social. She noted the importance of distinguishing between the protections Islam granted to women and the unjust customs and traditions imposed in the name of religion. Many societies restrict women and falsely claim that such practices are rooted in Shariah, while Islam is completely innocent of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, she addressed the topic through al-Azhar\u2019s methodological framework, emphasizing that harming women is condemned both legally and socially.
