Prof. Ibrahim al-Hodhod, former President of al-Azhar University and the Academic Advisor of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates said that al-Azhar is the one who delivered the message of Islam to all the peoples of the world and clarified the true religion and its constructive role in preserving and progressing civilization.
This came during the lecture of “The Role of al-Azhar in Knowledge Industry” as part of the training course organized by the Organization for 40 Indonesian Imams via video conference, as the first experiment to train the Imams and preachers online in line with the precautionary measures to prevent Corona Virus Covid 19.
It is worth mentioning that al-Hodhud pointed to the significant role that Al-Azhar plays in qualifying scholars who can spread moderate thought and true Islam and confront extremist ideology that leads to destruction and explosion, by reaffirming the moderate Azhari approach that calls for the values of peaceful coexistence, rejection of violence and acceptance of others.
In conclusion, al-Hodhud explained that the Azhari personality characteristics distinguish the Azhari scholar from others: his pride in belonging to al-Azhar, moderation, rejection of exaggeration and intolerance, academic and cultural diversity, and acceptance of the other and understanding his argument. The course activities will last for a month, with the participation of elite scholars and professors of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
