The World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Nigeria held a religious lecture in Kwara State entitled “Mercy and Discarding Violence”. Mr. Abu Bakr Muhammad Jebriel, a graduate trainee of the Nigerian Imams Training Course in 2019, pointed to the fact that Islam is a religion of mercy and tolerance and it has nothing to do with fanaticism, racism, and discrimination. It is a religion that preserves people’s rights in every age and place.
In addition, he highlighted the role masjids, schools, press, and media should play in order to eradicate violence and disseminate mercy. He also stressed that Islam discarded violence and coercion when addressing people. Instead, it addressed minds with evidence and hearts with Quranic verses.
It is worth mentioning that the Organization’s branch in Nigeria holds these lectures with the aim of confronting violent and extremist ideologies, spreading the moderate approach, and revealing the tolerant image of Islam.
