The World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in India held a lecture entitled “The Importance of Teaching Islamic Values to Muslim Children” in Meerut City of the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. This lecture is among the series of lectures held by the Branch to provide Muslim children with knowledge at an early age.
The Secretary-General of the Branch, Mr. Muhammad Shehab Al-Azhari, stressed the importance of introducing moderate thought to educational curricula to protect future generations from extremism as the Islamic Ummah needs a Muslim generation characterized by moderation.
In addition, he pointed to the fact that Islam gives due care to knowledge as it has a positive impact on individuals and societies. Islam also provided human beings with tools of knowledge such as reason, ears, and eyes. It is worth mentioning that the Branch holds these lectures to promote spreading the moderate approach that calls for discarding violence and extremism as well as anchoring values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
