Al-Azhar Graduates in Cameroon Organize a Training Course to Qualify Teachers to Refute the Extremist Thinking

WOAG branch in Cameroon organized a training course under the title of “Preparing Primary Teachers to Refute the Extremist Thinking“, were 150 teachers attended the course in Duala city, from November 20th to 24th, 2021. This course came within the Organization’s objectives to establish moderation, spread the moderate thinking and denounce violence and extremism.

The course was inaugurated by the Governor of Adamawa region, the Mayor of Ngaoundéré city, his deputy and the President of the Islamic Association in Cameroon. The course aimed at qualifying teachers to refute the extremist thinking and protect children against the misconceptions disseminated by the extremist groups. The course tackled several topics included in WOAG publications such as: the concept of citizenship, the concept of Jihad, the concept of al-Wala’ wal Bara’ and the concept of Caliphate.

The participants praised the efforts exerted by the Organization under the leadership of Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of al-Azhar and President of WOAG, as well as the role played by WOAG Cameroon to establish the moderate approach.
