
WOAG branch in Mali organized a lecture under the title of “The Concept of Citizenship” in Bamako city. The lecture was attended by 120 students of Al-Manhal Islamic School. This lecture came within the activities carried out by the Organization and its branches abroad to confront the extremist thinking, correct the misconceptions and spread moderation.
The lecture stressed that the right of citizenship is guaranteed for all individuals in the society, nevertheless their differences. The lecture also emphasized that the concept of citizenship contradicts with the misconceptions propagated by the extremist groups that seek to spark discord within the society and weaken the national affiliation, adding that establishing the concept of citizenship can challenge the destructing ideologies that may destabilize society. The lecture highlighted as well the necessity of adhering to the moderate Islamic teachings that always stress the right of citizenship and taking Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as a role model in establishing the values of peace and attaining social cohesion.
