Al-Azhar Graduates in Mali Delivers Lecture about Role of Families in Promoting National Affiliation

The World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Mali delivered a lecture entitled “Concept of citizenship” in Sikasso region in which 145 people took part. Mr. Ahmad Yalkoy, member of the Organization’s branch in Mali, pointed that concept of citizenship refers to members of a particular society who enjoy rights and perform duties without discrimination based on religion, color, financial standard, political affiliation or ideological stance. Citizenship entails a series of rights and duties that revolve around: equality, freedom, participation and social responsibility. He clarified that duties include: obedience, defending one’s country, respecting systems and preserving properties.

Moreover, he highlighted the significance of the role played by families in the upbringing of children based on love, tolerance and deepening family affiliation that reflects on national affiliation. Families also have a role in promoting citizenship through attaching children to their religion and teaching them the culture of dialogue and respecting others.
