WOAG branch in Bangladesh organized a seminar under the title of “Community Violence… a Phenomenon That Needs to Be Solved”. The seminar was given by Sheikh Mohammad Ibrahim al-Qadri and Sheikh Ghulam Mustafa Mohammad al-Azhari, the Secretary General of the branch, with the attendance of a vast number of the branch members and students.
The Secretary General pointed out that al-Azhar approach is about mercy and renouncing violence; indeed, it teaches its followers that “A Muslim is the one who avoids harming other Muslims with his tongue or his hands” and that “The merciful are shown mercy by Ar-Rahman”. Hence, al-Azhar took great strides towards transforming mercy into a reality.
He added that violence should be challenged, regardless of its kind, by correcting the misconceptions, launching youth initiatives to raise their awareness on the dangers of violence and to promote tolerance and violence among them. He concluded his speech with praying to Allah Almighty to save the people of Gaza and to protect al-Azhar the Grand Imam.
