Somali School Students and Azhari Scholars Celebrate Somali Knowledge Day

On the occasion of Somali Knowledge Day, the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Qardho, in coordination with Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif Institute in Qardho, held a ceremony for school students. Both the Somali and Egyptian flags were raised in the courtyard of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif Institute in Qardho. A number of officials and scholars also took part in the ceremony, including Mr. Hayr Yusuf Amer, Deputy Governor, Dr. Ahmad Barakat, Head of the Azhari Mission, Prof. Abdulqader Mohammad Sherdon, Director of Qardho Azhari Institute and other prominent figures from the city.

The ceremony began with a radio program prepared by the students in which they spoke about the importance of commemorating the memory of this glorious day and what it means to the Somali students. They also mentioned the history of both countries Egypt and Somalia as well as the long-lasting relationship that binds these two brotherly countries. Then a number of Azhari scholars took turns stressing the role of Al-Azhar in solidifying the student’s relationship with his homeland.
