The Ambassador, Dr. Khan Bulukhu, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Cairo, delivered an invitation from His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, to His Eminence the Grand Imam to visit the country in November. The invitation is for participation in the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP29, which will be held in the capital, Baku, and the anticipated summit of leaders from various religions and religious institutions focused on climate issues. Additionally, they will discuss ways to enhance cooperation with Al-Azhar in interfaith dialogue, leveraging its extensive experience in this area.
The Grand Imam of al-Azhar welcomed this gracious invitation, sending his greetings to His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev, and expressing his appreciation for this kind invitation. His Eminence looks forward to accepting the invitation and participating in this important summit, hoping that it will come out with serious discussions on the climate change crisis and result in binding decisions for the major economic powers while being fair to developing countries, which are the most affected by the negative impacts of this serious crisis.
