Al-Azhar Graduates in Somalia Holds Training Course on “Importance of Holy Quran”

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Qardho-Somalia, in cooperation with al-Ilm Center for Quran and Basic Education in Qardho, held a training course on “The Importance of the Holy Quran” at al-Ilm Masjid, where Professor Mohammed Ali, a member of the Branch, lectured.

The lecture aimed to encourage children to memorize the Holy Quran and explain its importance. This stems from al-Azhar’s role in preserving the Holy Quran and its sciences and spreading Islamic culture as well as moderation. It is worth noting that Somalis are extremely keen on teaching their children to read the Quran. The first thing they do is enroll their children in memorization circles spread in Masjids. This has been a long-standing tradition in many parts of the Islamic world until recently. Children first learn verses of the Quran, then progress through various other sciences.
