“Al-Azhar Graduates” Honors Former Board Members and Commends Their Efforts in Supporting Al-Azhar’s Mission

In a family-like atmosphere filled with love, the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates, chaired by Prof. Abbas Shouman, Chairman of the Board and Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars, held a reception to welcome the new Board members and honor the previous Board leaders. This gesture was in recognition of their significant efforts and contributions in supporting al-Azhar’s global role through the Organization’s impactful activities that strengthen the connection between al-Azhar and its Graduates worldwide and promote al-Azhar’s moderate methodology. The event was attended by Mr. Wael Bekhit, Vice-Chairman of the Board; Prof. Abdul Dayyem Nosseir, Secretary-General of the Organization; and Prof. Hassan Al-Saghir, Assistant Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy.

In his speech during the ceremony, Prof. Abbas Shouman praised the efforts of Mr. Osama Yassin and Prof. Mohammad al-Mahrasawi, the former Vice-Chairmen of the Board, for their service to the nation and their dedication to reinforcing al-Azhar’s global mission. They achieved outstanding results in advancing the organization’s activities both domestically and internationally, supporting al-Azhar graduates, and assisting them. Their efforts had a significant impact on shaping the alumni’s ideas, forming their awareness according to the correct methodology of al-Azhar, and fostering love for their countries.

The Chairman of the Board also extended his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the honored former Vice-Chairmen, wishing them continued success, health, and well-being.

Mr. Osama Yassin expressed his sincere feelings towards the Organization and its staff, who supported him throughout his over fifteen years of service. During this time, he made significant contributions to the Organization’s goals, helping it evolve from its nascent stages to become a vital communication channel with al-Azhar graduates worldwide. He worked tirelessly over the years to promote and solidify Islamic culture across the Muslim world by spreading the true teachings of Islam and fostering a culture of peace and security among communities. He wished all the Organization’s staff success in their future projects and urged them to continue their dedicated efforts, reflecting their deep belief in the importance of the Organization’s mission in serving al-Azhar and its alumni.

Prof. Mohammad al-Mahrasawi, President of al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams, Preachers, and Researchers and former Vice-Chairman of the Board, expressed his great happiness for the honor of serving al-Azhar through one of its pioneering entities, the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates. He affirmed that the Organization’s success was achieved through a sincere belief in its mission, cooperation, understanding, and the inclusion of all those working in this prestigious institution. He wished the new Board continued success in strengthening the Organization’s mission, enhancing communication and cooperation, and supporting al-Azhar alumni across the Islamic world.

Prof. Salama Dawood, Vice-Chairman of the Board for Academic and Cultural Affairs, stated that since his appointment to his new position, he has prayed for guidance in continuing the Organization’s successful journey. He acknowledged the significant progress and active contributions made by the previous Board and its dedicated members in achieving the ultimate goal of serving al-Azhar’s mission.

After the ceremony, the Organization’s staff expressed their deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to the former Vice-Chairmen for their outstanding services over the past years. Their efforts facilitated the success of the Organization’s staff in achieving excellence and advancing its mission of serving Azhari alumni worldwide. They wished them good health, well-being, and continued success.

At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Abbas Shouman presented commemorative gifts to Mr. Osama Yassin and Prof. Mohammad al-Mahrasawi in recognition and appreciation of their contributions over the years.
