His Eminence Prof. Abbas Shouman, President of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates and the Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars stated that the organization warmly welcomes al-Azhar students from all over the world with the Malaysian people and their students hold a special place with al-Azhar ash-Sharif and its esteemed Grand Imam.
This came during the reception of His Eminence, the Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Dato’ Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, and his accompanying delegation. He affirmed al-Azhar’s pride in the strong and historical relations it shares with Malaysia, pointing out that the organization spares no effort in serving international students in general and Malaysian students in particular, as well as in training Malaysian Imams and preachers at the organization.
For his part, the Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs expressed his appreciation to al-Azhar ash-Sharif and its Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, for their efforts in promoting the true teachings of religion and for the care they provide to students studying at al-Azhar ash-Sharif.
