Al-Azhar Graduates in Benin: the Holy Quran Urges the Necessity of Belonging to Homeland

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates’ branch in Benin organized a lecture under the title of “Citizenship and Belonging”, in Cotonou city, with the presence of 150 attendees.

Preacher Elias Abdul Rahman, member of the branch, underlined that the Holy Quran urges the necessity of belonging to homeland. He stressed that a homeland has the right to gain its people’s affiliation and loyalty, explaining that citizenship rights include attaining justice and welfare. He pointed out as well that, through the good practice of citizenship, a citizen will put the public interest before the private one, bear responsibility towards homeland wherever and whenever he goes, and mingle within his society nevertheless its different approaches, languages or races. He added that differentiation occurs as much as what a citizen provides to his country to achieve prosperity and progress in all aspects of life.
