Al-Azhar Offers Condolences to Sudan over Flood Victims and Calls for Global Relief Campaign to Save Sudanese People

His Eminence the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb and al-Azhar scholars extend their sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the brotherly Sudanese people over the victims of the torrential floods and rains that swept the country. These floods claimed many lives, left many missing and caused widespread destruction, compounding the tragedy of this afflicted country that has been suffering from the scourge of conflicts and disputes for nearly 500 days.

Al-Azhar calls on Arab and Islamic world to hasten to aid the brotherly Sudanese people and save them from the ravages of wars, conflicts, famines, and the spread of diseases and epidemics. It also calls for the adoption of a global relief campaign to provide all forms of support to them in these difficult and painful circumstances.

As al-Azhar offers its condolences to the brotherly Sudanese people, it prays to Allah Almighty to embrace the victims with His vast mercy and forgiveness, heal the injured, relieve the distress of the Sudanese people, unite their word for the benefit of their country and protect them from all harm and adversity.
