
A high-level delegation from the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates, led by His Eminence Prof. Abbas Shouman, President of the Organization and Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars, has arrived in Malaysia. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the Organization and its Malaysian branch, in line with the directives of His Eminence the Grand Imam Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, Sheikh of al-Azhar ash-Sharif. The Grand Imam has emphasized the importance of maintaining communication between al-Azhar and its graduates, focusing on the branch’s strategic direction, addressing contemporary challenges, and exploring solutions to confront them.
It is worth mentioning that Dato Mohd Na’im bin Mokhtar, Malaysia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, received the Organization’s delegation headed by Prof. Abbas Shouman. The delegation included Prof. Salama Dawood, President of al-Azhar University and Vice-President of the Organization, Major General Wael Mahmoud Bekhit, Vice-President of the Organization, Prof. Abdul Dayyem Nusseir, Secretary-General of the Organization and Advisor to the Grand Imam, and Ahmed Fawzi, Director of Foreign Branches Department.
The Minister of Religious Affairs warmly welcomed the delegation, commending the efforts of His Eminence, the Grand Imam Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, in promoting the true teachings of Islam globally and fostering a culture of peace and coexistence among people. He emphasized that al-Azhar’s mission is universal, and dedicated to conveying the authentic image of Islam.
He also highlighted that the visit of His Eminence, the Grand Imam, to Malaysia had a profound impact on the hearts of Malaysians, further strengthening the bond between al-Azhar and the Malaysian people, who hold deep admiration for al-Azhar and its scholars.
The Minister of Religious Affairs also commended the efforts of the Organization’s branch in Malaysia for promoting moderation, balance, and fostering a strong sense of citizenship.
Prof. Abbas Shouman conveyed the greetings of His Eminence, the Grand Imam, to the people of Malaysia, emphasizing His Eminence’s personal commitment to supporting international students, ensuring their well-being, and addressing any challenges they may face during their studies. He also highlighted the Grand Imam’s directive to maintain strong communication between these students and al-Azhar ash-Sharif after their graduation.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Organization’s branch in Malaysia, headed by Dato Mohammad Fakhruddin Abdul Muti, along with a group of al-Azhar graduates who are members of the Organization’s branch in Malaysia.
