During “Common Values Between Islam & Christianity” Conference at “Al-Azhar Graduates”:

Dr. Mohammad Bayoumi: Religions are the Sources of Ethics by Which Following them Man Shall Reach Sublimity

Dr. Mohammad Bayoumi, Dean of Usul al-Din Faculty, al-Azhar University, Zagazig Branch, stressed that there is an array of rules that directs the human will. He added that ethics are what go beyond the rules to become an established value within oneself, from which an action, unhesitatingly, emerges.

This came during the events of “Common Values Between Islam and Christianity” Conference convened at the Headquarters of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates. The Conference was organized in cooperation between Al-Azhar Ambassador Project and the Coptic Franciscan Cultural Center.

In the same context, Dr. Bayoumi underlined that Christianity calls for adhering to ethics, as much as Islam, adding that a human being can reach moral sublimity whatever his/her religion is. He underscored as well that there are several commonalities between Islam and Christianity, as both of them are in the same trench; indeed, we are partners in religions in terms of the source.

Further, Dr. Bayoumi highlighted that the source of ethics and morals is Allah Almighty, and it cannot be said that such source can be Man. He demonstrated that Man’s opinion varies according to his/her surroundings, time and place, signifying that Man’s opinion concerning a human right can vary according to build-ups and moving from one age stage to another.

In the same vein, Dr. Bayoumi pointed out that all religions are all one hand in the face of Atheism, and determining the set of values and morals. He added that there are several teachings mentioned in the Bible that seek to establish the principles of ethics.
