The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates hosted October’s two war heroes from al-Azhar scholars: Prof. Dr. Olawi Amin and Prof. Dr. Fathy Hegazy, professors at al-Azhar University.
This came during the first initiative launched by the Organization under the presidency of Prof. Dr. Abbas Shouman, the Secretary General of al-Azhar Council of Senior Scholars, under the title of: “Azharis Participated in Making the Victory”.
Dr. Olawi Amin highlighted that 6th of October is the victory day where the Egyptian army succeeded in 1973 in crossing Bar lev Line, 51 years ago. He stressed that breaking through that line was almost impossible, that the enemy thought it was sheltering itself by an impenetrable fortress. However, by knowledge, wisdom, faithful valiant Egyptian leadership and the courage of the sincere soldiers who did not fear death, Egypt was able to cross the impenetrable line, to raise Egypt’s flag over the Eastern Bank of Suez Canal, attain victory and restore the occupied land of Sinai. Hence, every Egyptian should celebrate such national anniversary and cherish it.
On his part, Dr. Fathy Hegazy referred to a phrase stating that “the Egyptians’ will is invincible”; such phrase expresses the Egyptians belief in their army, the support they always provide it, their awareness of its abilities and their appreciation for the soldier who sacrificed his life for the sake of his homeland. These are the words echoing with every commemoration of the glorious victories of October, reflecting the challenge and the persistence to achieve the impossible.
Both guests concluded the seminar by narrating some of the situations they encountered during the glorious war, amid the astonishment of the participants.
The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members at al-Azhar University, Egyptian and international students from the different faculties at al-Azhar University.
