Prof. Abbas Shouman, President of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates and Secretary General of al-Azhar Council of Senior Scholars, met with British imams, through video conference, as part of the “Dismantling Extremist Thought” course. The Organization holds this course in collaboration with al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams, Preachers, and Fatwa Researchers.
Prof. Shouman expressed his happiness with such courses, which allow communication with imams and scholars from various countries around the world. He indicated the readiness of the Organization to provide all forms of support to spread the principles of moderation and present the true image of Islam.
In addition, he urged the trainees to adhere to correct religious rulings with flexibility, demonstrating the tolerance of Islam and making things easier for people.
In conclusion, he advised them to clarify the image of tolerant Islam in their communities without negligence or exaggeration, while presenting al-Azhar’s approach of moderation. He emphasized that we are a moderate nation and that adhering to moderation is the way to cut off the path for those who divide and exaggerate.
