 Grand Imam: We Stand Ready to Support Peruvian Muslims with Scholarships, Imam Training Programs, and an Arabic Language Center

His Eminence, the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, received Ambassador José Jesús, the Peruvian Ambassador to Cairo, on Thursday at al-Azhar headquarters.

Notably, the Grand Imam affirmed al-Azhar’s readiness to support the Muslim community in Peru by offering scholarships for Peruvian Muslim students to enroll at al-Azhar University, recruiting Peruvian Imams for training at al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers, and establishing a center for teaching Arabic to help Peruvian Muslims learn the language of the Holy Quran.

For his part, the Peruvian Ambassador expressed his pleasure at meeting the Grand Imam of al-Azhar. He conveyed his country’s appreciation for his efforts to promote peace, fraternity, and interfaith dialog. He also praised al-Azhar’s “Peace Caravans” initiative to spread peace globally, emphasizing his gratitude for the Grand Imam’s commitment to supporting the Muslims of Peru through proposed scholarships, Imam training programs, and the establishment of a Center for Arabic Language Education.
