“Refuting the Extremist Thinking”… A Lecture by al-Azhar Graduates in Somalia

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates branch in Somalia convened a lecture under the title of “Refuting the Extremist Thinking” in Galkayo city, Galmudug state, with the attendance of a number of students from different schools.

The lecture was given by Bashir Sayed Ali, Public Relations and Advertisements Official and Edris Ahmad Mohammad, member of the branch. The lecture aimed to raise the awareness of the students regarding how to refute the extremist thinking on behavioral, social and psychological levels. The lecture also tackled how the extremist groups misinterpret Quran and Hadith in a way that serves their intentions to destruct the fundamentals of moderate Islam.

The lecture extended over 4 hours, where students shared their questions, inquiries and need for more lectures that tackle the most vital issues in the Islamic world, especially the misconceptions circulated by the extremist groups.
