The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates Branch in India organized an awareness gathering for students entitled “Educating the new Generation on moderate thought: A necessity of the current era.” Prof. Mohammad Shihab al-Din al-Azhari, Secretary General of the Branch and head of al-Rahmaniya Soful School in Darbhanga Bihar district, delivered the lecture. The gathering aimed at anchoring moderation in students’ minds and protecting them from extremist thought or sliding into extremist groups.
During the lecture, al-Azhari emphasized that promoting a culture of moderation in behavior and practice is crucial in the current time, as it was before, but it is even more necessary today given the widespread calls to extremism, especially among youth. He noted that this role is not limited to certain groups like religious scholars but should extend to include all active institutions, especially schools and universities, which are among the most important institutions dealing with youth. He added that the youth phase in human life is one of the most critical stages affecting their future. If educational and youth institutions nurture them with care, guidance and direction from the beginning, this will be reflected in society’s health, purity, harmony, construction and stability. It is worth noting that this lecture is part of India branch’s efforts to establish a culture of moderation and instill it in youth, highlighting the role of al-Azhar and the organization’s headquarters in Cairo.
