Lecture for al-Azhar Graduates in Mali Warns against Dangers of Takfir

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates branch in Mali held a lecture entitled “Peaceful Coexistence and Discarding Violence and Hatred” in the Segou region. Ibrahim Konta, a member of the Organization’s branch in Mali, delivered the lecture, pointing out that takfir is among the gravest sins. He noted that Sunni scholars agreed that it is incorrect to declare a Muslim as a kafir, as such a ruling carries serious dangers that can lead to the violation of lives, property, and honor that Allah protected through the declaration of Islam, and because it also leads to corruption and destruction on Earth.

He emphasized that Islam came as a mercy to all worlds, calling for the preservation of lives, property, and honor. In addition, he urged the attendees to learn from religions’ stance on peace and rejection of violence and not to surrender their minds and thinking to calls associated with terrorism. He stressed that true religion cannot coexist with violence in one heart or at the same time.
