Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Malaysia Continues its “Building Ideas” Evenings with a Session on Imam Al-Ashari

The Malaysia branch of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates held an evening event titled: “Imam Al-Ashari and Uniting the Word of Muslims,” based on the book by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb. This event is part of a series of evenings under “Building the Nation’s Ideas from the Good Saying.”

Prof. Mohammad Fakhruddin, the branch president, opened the evening by discussing the reason for choosing the seminar topic in the contemporary era and the similarities between current events and the time of Imam al-Ashari.

Notably, Prof. Azmil bin Zain al-Abidin, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought, delivered a speech titled: “Sectarian Conflict and Disputes Before the Emergence of the Ashari School, and the Balanced and Moderate Approach of Abu al-Hasan al-Ashari among Extremists. Additionally, Dr. Faizuri bin Abdul Latif, a faculty member in the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought, spoke on “The Positive Impact of Studying Abu al-Hasan al-Ashari’s Methodology in Uniting Muslims Today.

The lecture covered several key topics, including an introduction to Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaah and Abu al-Hasan al-Ashari, the efforts of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in promoting Asharism and its balanced approach within the Muslim Ummah, the current global context and its need for this methodology, and the benefits of applying the principles and constants of the Ashari school in the contemporary era.
