Al-Azhar Graduates in Benin Honors Quran Memorizers

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates branch in Benin celebrated students who completed memorizing the Holy Quran from Bilal bin Rabah School for Islamic Education, which is affiliated with the Organization’s branch in Cotonou City.

Preacher Othman Dorigo, imam masjid and branch member, said that children have rights over their parents, just as parents have rights over their children. Among these rights is caring for them and sending them to school for education, especially religious sciences, with the Holy Quran being at the forefront.

Sheikh Mama Siro Hussein, imam masjid and deputy head of the branch, highlighted the virtue of knowledge and scholars, explaining that knowledge is light by which humans illuminate their path and through which nations progress. He noted that ignorance is darkness, and nations cannot advance without knowledge. In this regard, he emphasized the necessity of providing all means and resources that enable children to pursue their education and encourage them.
