Head of Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Borno, Nigeria: Islam Calls for Cooperation between Muslims and Non-Muslims to Promote Peaceful Coexistence

The World Organization of al-Azhar Graduates in Nigeria held a lecture titled “National Unity from the Perspective of Islamic Law” in the local language in the village of Jadra Fulu, Jerry County, Borno State, Nigeria. During the lecture, Prof. Ibrahim Omar Mohammad, head of the organization’s branch in Borno, emphasized that national unity, from an Islamic law perspective, is founded on societal cohesion and the unity of its members, regardless of their differences. He stressed the importance of achieving justice, and equality among citizens in rights and duties while avoiding division and fragmentation, which Islamic law identifies as key threats to national unity.

Furthermore, he emphasized that Islam consistently calls for unity and cooperation between Muslims and non-Muslims to achieve peaceful coexistence, which serves as the foundation for building any society. He recalled the most significant manifestations of unity, equality and justice, cooperation, solidarity, love, and belonging to the homeland, noting that the promotion of national unity in Islam enables people to work together to achieve shared goals and aspirations.
