The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates branch in India, convened an awareness-raising interview for the youth, themed: “The Sedition of Takfir and al-Azhar’s Role to Defeat It”. The interview was run by Dr. Mohammad Shehab al-Din al-Azhari, the Secretary General of India branch and the Principal of Madarsa Rahmaniya Supaul, in Darbhanga, Bihar. The meeting witnessed the participation of a number of scholars, aiming to raise the awareness of the youth on the sedition of Takfir, its negative impacts on society and the role of al-Azhar in combating it.
The Secretary General of India branch affirmed that Takfir is a sedition that plagued societies in ancient and modern times. He added that whoever adopts such deviated path, particularly the terrorist groups, is defying Allah Almighty and His rulings, a thing that has nothing to do with Islam. He highlighted as well the main reasons of Takfir, including: ignorance, evil whims and the misinterpretation of legal texts. Indeed, Takfiris used to twist the Quranic verses and taking them out of their context, in order to interpret them according to their inclinations that they departed from the righteous approach.
The lecturer explained that al-Azhar ash-Sharif has been tirelessly fighting the sedition of Takfir, under the leadership of His Eminence the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, commending the efforts exerted by the Organization in such concern.
