Al-Azhar strongly condemns the treacherous terrorist attack that targeted a mosque in Nigeria’s northern Katsina State during morning prayers, leaving dozens of innocent worshippers dead and wounded.
Notably, al-Azhar affirms that targeting the houses of Allah and shedding the blood of peaceful worshippers is a heinous crime that strips its perpetrators of all religious teachings and all values of mercy and humanity. It also stands as evidence of the brutality of extremist thought, which disregards the sanctity of religion and the value of human life.
Furthermore, al-Azhar reiterates its call for concerted international efforts to confront the threat of terrorism and extremist ideology, to safeguard places of worship from any attacks, and to protect societies from the dangers posed by these deviant groups.
Finally, al-Azhar extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of Nigeria, as well as to the families of the victims, praying to the Almighty to bestow His mercy upon the departed, grant the injured a swift recovery, and spread security and peace throughout the world.
