“Al-Azhar Graduates” Launches the Annual Ramadan Quran Memorization Competition in Cooperation with Abu al-Enein Charitable Foundation

Under the patronage of His Eminence, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of al-Azhar ash-Sharif, the examinations of the Annual Quran Memorization Competition were launched today. The competition is organized by the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in cooperation with Abu al-Enein Charitable Foundation, with the participation of both Egyptian and international students studying at al-Azhar ash-Sharif, who are no older than 18 years of age.

The competition comprises two main levels: the first level covers memorization of the whole Quran, while the second level covers memorization of half the Quran, allowing the participation of a larger number of students, according to their different levels of memorization.

The competition’s activities are scheduled to continue with a final qualifying round among candidates who passed the preliminary examinations, in order to select the top competitors at each level, leading up to the announcement and honoring of the winners in recognition of their excellence in Quran memorization.

This competition reflects the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates’ commitment to nurture Quranic talents among al-Azhar Egyptian and international students, and to foster the spirit of positive competitiveness in memorizing and mastering the recitation of the Holy Quran.

The competition, held at al-Sheikh Zayed Center for Teaching Arabic to non-Natives, is part of the Organization’s ongoing efforts to support Quran memorizers, encourage the youth to build a strong connection with the Holy Quran through memorization and reflection, and to instill religious and moral values.
