The branch of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in Kenya -Mombasa ‘under construction” organized a lecture about kinship ties. The lecturer was Sheikh Faisal al-Amoudy, the Secretary-General of Kenya’s branch.
During the lecture, al-Amoudy pointed out that kinship ties with parents are obligatory even if they are non-Muslims. Furthermore, he asserted that kinship ties are the greatest deed for Allah Almighty and it is a duty for every Muslim. It is worth mentioning that Allah connected affinity with the blessings in time and living. He made it clear that kinship ties are not just a virtue for a Muslim, but rather it is one of the commands of Sharia that requires obedience, and cutting it off is a divine prohibition that necessitates to cease and renounce, as it is the focus of reward or punishment on the Day of Resurrection. This lecture came as part of the Organization’s activity to confront extremist thought and propagate moderate thought.
