The Bangladesh branch of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates organized a seminar titled “Promoting Tolerance and Rejecting Violence and Extremism” at the Sophie Mizan Foundation building. The event was held in cooperation with the World Peace Balance Center for Islamic Research, with the attendance of several scholars, researchers, members of the Organization’s branch, and students.
Additionally, Sheikh Sufi Mizan ar-Rahman, head of the Organization’s branch in Bangladesh, emphasized that promoting a culture of tolerance, love, and brotherhood is the most effective way to counter all forms of extremism, racism, and intellectual division, which threaten the unity of both society and the state. He added that extremism stems from misconceptions, which must be addressed through sound thinking, proper education, and avoiding the lure of destructive ideologies.
For his part, Professor Mohammad Abdul Rashid, President of the Arab Islamic University in Bangladesh, highlighted during the seminar the crucial role of the Organization’s branch in Bangladesh in providing academic education and support to students.
During the seminar, he emphasized the importance of tolerance, the rejection of violence and intolerance, and the need to embrace acceptance of others and peaceful coexistence. He highlighted the significance of addressing such topics, which hold a special place in our lives, underscoring the return to moderation and tolerance, as well as the rejection of violence and extremism in all its forms, to showcase the true essence of Islam.
