His Eminence the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, commended “the courageous stances taken by the countries that have upheld justice for the Palestinian cause within the halls of the United Nations, demonstrating that the voice of truth still resonates and that the will of free peoples is capable of thwarting attempts to obscure reality.”
It is worth mentioning that His Eminence posted on his official social media pages: “What we are witnessing today, from the expanding circle of international stances rejecting the occupation and isolating it diplomatically and politically, to the rising international support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, confirms that relying on the continued unconditional global support the occupation has grown accustomed to in order to carry out its crimes with impunity will not continue forever.”
Additionally, the Grand Imam emphasized that “Palestine is not a fleeting issue in the history of the Ummah, nor is it a political matter open to compromise. Rather, it is a cause of justice, right, dignity, and honor.” He added: “Al-Azhar ash-Sharif will continue to support the stance of the Egyptian people and the peoples of the free world, remaining steadfast in its support for the Palestinian people and in its rejection of occupation, displacement, and aggression, until the Palestinians attain their legitimate rights to establish their independent state with al-Quds ash-Sharif as its capital.”
