Al-Azhar Graduates in Nigeria: Confronting Terrorism has Become a Humanitarian Duty before being a Religious or Security one

Mr. Saleh Qoura, Teacher at the Faculty of Languages and Translation, al-Azhar University, and the supervisor of “al-Azhar Hausa” page, broadcasted a lecture via the page, to address countries bordering Lake Chad, in Hausa language.

The lecture stressed that the heavenly Islamic legislations came to preserve the Muslim’s honor, blood and property. Thus, Islam prohibited murder, theft and violence, and for that, the Islamic Shari’ah stipulated hard penalties against the perpetrators of these crimes, in order to preserve the human societies. Indeed, confronting the plague of terrorism has become a humanitarian duty before being a religious or security one, where the harms of terrorism have affected all humanity, since it does not differentiate between religions, countries or genders.

The aspect which all people are equal, as for confronting terrorism, is the aspect concerning covering up and protecting terrorists, where they find safe havens in some countries, institutions or people, which enable them to go on with their crimes against humanity. Hence, the Islamic Shari’ah considered sheltering extremists as one of the greatest sins that Allah Almighty has cursed its perpetrators; indeed, the heinous acts of these extremists, such as destruction and killing are the worst kinds of corruption that Shari’ah has prohibited.
