Al-Azhar Graduates in Luxor: The Best Jihad is to Strive for Yourself

The branch of al-Azhar Graduates in Luxor posted a video on its official page on Facebook entitled “Concept of Jihad in Islam”

Through the video, Sheikh Hamdy Zaki, a member of the organization, clarified that Jihad is not as some people think; Jihad originally meant fight. It is worth mentioning that the beginning of Jihad was in Makkah and the evidence was in the Holy Quran, as Allah said: “So do not obey the disbelievers, but struggle against them therewith with a great endeavor.” [Q. 25:52] The interpretation of this verse is that Jihad means to explain the Holy Quran to them and clarify its evidence. Furthermore, the best Jihad is to strive for yourself and your desires. This is evidence that Jihad in Islam originally is not fighting, sabotaging, and assault on the safe, as some claim.
