Dr. Nosseir During the Closing Ceremony of the 13th Libyan Training Course: We Must Unite Against Takfir, Intolerance and Extremism

Dr. Abu Zaid al-Amir: Libya is Replete with Prominent Scholars who Contributed to the Sublimity of Islam

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates (WOAG) concluded the 13th training course which included 45 of Libyan imams and preachers, in cooperation with Al-Azhar Academy for Training Imams, Preachers and Fatwa Researchers, at al-Sheikh Zayed Center for Teaching Arabic Language to Non-Native Speakers.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Sediq, Vice-President of al-Azhar University for Postgraduate Studies gave a word in which he emphasized that such training course stresses the deepness of the Egyptian-Libyan relationships as well as al-Azhar’s support in particular and Egypt’s concern in general in the Libyan cause. He added that al-Azhar is always ready for the scientific and knowledge exchange between both countries, in order to establish al-Azhar moderate approach to confront the extremist and intolerant thinking, to attain the security of the brotherly Libyan people.

In the same context, Dr. Abdul Dayyem Nosseir, the Grand Imam’s Consultant and the Secretary General of WOAG, highlighted the vital role played by the Organization, via its branches abroad to develop the expertise of imams and preachers all over the Islamic world, particularly in Libya. Dr. Nosseir addressed the trainees saying: “we were honored to have you all in Egypt, your Second homeland; this training course comes to assure al-Azhar’s keenness to contribute in protecting the Ummah and its youth from the dangers of the extremist ideologies. Indeed, it is our duty to unite against the plague of Takfir, intolerance and extremism”.

In the same vein, Mr. Osama Yassin, WOAG Vice-Chairman, explained the Organization’s keenness to have constant and effective communications with its branch in Libya and all its offices, to follow up with its preaching activity and to answer the needs of imams and preachers by providing them the legal knowledge, via al-Azhar senior scholars, to refute the extremist ideas and misconceptions, by organizing the recent intensive legal training courses. As a matter of fact, the Organization succeeded in training more than 600 imams and preachers from Libya, and it is always ready to receive more trainees to achieve the objective of these courses.

Moreover, Mr. Osama Yassin expressed his appreciation of the supervisory role played by al-Azhar Academy for Training Imams, Preachers and Fatwa Researchers; indeed, the Academy cooperated with the Organization to provide the best training in the preaching field for imams in the Islamic world.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Zaid al-Amir, Vice-President of al-Azhar University for Lower Egypt said that Libya is replete with prominent scholars who greatly contributed to the sublimity of Islam; indeed, most of them received their education at al-Azhar, where they were indulged in al-Azhar moderation, that’s why the Libyan imams must teach their people such moderation and its impact on spreading security allover Libya. On his part, Sheikh Akram al-Jirary, Head of WOAG branch in Libya, praised the high level training courses organized for the Libyans, as well as the role played by the Organization and the Academy in such concern. He highlighted as well the magnificent role played by Egypt and al-Azhar to contain the Libyan issue and to achieve an Egyptian-Libyan comprehensive settlement to restore moderation and security all over Libya. He concluded his word by wishing the two countries safety, peace and stability.
