Al-Azhar Graduates Honors International Students and Young Quran Memorizers

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates held a ceremony to honor international students and young Quran memorizers. The event was part of an annual competition organized by the Organization in cooperation with the Federation of Islamic Institutions in Brazil.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Wael Bekhit, Vice President of the Board of Directors; Professor Abdul Dayyem Nusseir, Secretary-General of the Organization; and Professor Ibrahim al-Hudhud, the Organization’s Academic Advisor.

Notably, the competition featured broad participation from international students at al-Azhar ash-Sharif. Twenty-eight Quran memorizers from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Russia, Nigeria, and Guinea-Conakry were among the winners.

Furthermore, Professor Ibrahim al-Hudhud stated that honoring those who have memorized the Quran is an honor for everyone involved. He noted that those who carry the Book of Allah are “the people of Allah and His chosen ones,” a distinction that brings great honor to both the students and their parents. He reminded them that on the Day of Resurrection, they will be granted the “Crown of Dignity.” He concluded by offering his congratulations and urging the students to remain diligent in their memorization and devotion.

Similarly, Professor Abdul Dayyem Nusseir remarked that for non-native speakers to memorize the Quran is a true miracle. He noted that despite not speaking Arabic, these students demonstrated exceptional mastery and emerged among the winners. He encouraged those who did not place this year to persevere in their studies, reminding them that “anyone who carries the Holy Quran in their heart is a winner.”

Furthermore, Major General Wael Bekhit expressed his gratitude to the Federation of Islamic Institutions in Brazil for their continued cooperation with the Organization over the past three years. He also extended his thanks to the jury, the participating students, and all those whose efforts contributed to the successful organization of the competition.

He further noted that the Organization sponsors international students and supports their ongoing pursuit of knowledge across all disciplines. He emphasized that the Organization spares no effort in providing these students with the resources and guidance they need to succeed.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards and honors to the distinguished winners, followed by commemorative group photographs with the students and officials.
