Al-Azhar ash-Sharif expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of the incursion into the courtyards of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque by an official of the Zionist entity’s government and crowds of extremist settlers, heavily escorted by occupation forces. Al-Azhar stresses that this irresponsible behavior constitutes a sinful attack on the sanctity of the first Qibla and the third holiest site in Islam, as well as a flagrant provocation to the sentiments of nearly two billion Muslims around the world.
Al-Azhar ash-Sharif emphasizes that Jerusalem and its blessed al-Aqsa Mosque, with all its courtyards and prayer halls, are an exclusive Islamic right that cannot be divided or shared. Furthermore, it warns against Zionist plans aimed at changing the historical and legal status quo in the Holy City and undermining its Arab and Islamic identity through policies of Judaization, temporal and spatial division, and the imposition of a fait accompli.
Al-Azhar ash-Sharif calls on the international community and its relevant institutions to break their silence and fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities to put an end to these provocative rampages and to curb the terrorism of the occupying authorities and settler gangs. Furthermore, al-Azhar ash-Sharif prays to Allah Almighty to protect al-Aqsa Mosque from the defilement of the usurpers, to grant steadfastness to our people in Jerusalem, and to enable the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights and establish their independent state with al-Quds ash-Sharif as its capital.
