The Organization Foreign Branches Celebrates International Day of Al-Azhar

The World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates Foreign Branches in Indonesia, Brunei, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Thailand, and Malaysia held celebrations, at their various headquarters and Islamic centers, to mark 1081 years since the establishment of Al-Azhar. The celebrations that took place on the 7th of Ramadan 1442 H were attended by heads of the Foreign Branches and representatives for religious institutions.

The celebrations shed light on the role of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and its moderate approach that calls for peace, disseminating values of coexistence and discarding all forms of dissent and violence. Since the establishment of Al-Azhar, it has been the heart of providing Islamic sciences and languages and the guardian of Islamic heritage.

In addition, the Organization’s foreign branches extended their greetings to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad Muhammad At-Tayyeb, and commended his significant role in anchoring values of peaceful coexistence, spreading awareness of hazards of violence and extremism as well as opposing terrorism through the world initiatives he undertakes. Finally, they affirmed that they will continue undertaking their role in spreading the tolerant message of Al-Azhar and anchoring the values of Islam worldwide.
