Al-Azhar Graduates in Bangladesh: al-Azhar Approach is Moderation; It is the Legitimate Heir to the Prophetic Lights

WOAG branch in Bangladesh convened a seminar under the title of “Al-Azhar Approach…a Doctrine, a School and a behavior“, in Mizan al-Salam Center in Chittagong. Dr. Mohammad Jaafar, Professor of Arabic language at Chittagong University, Dr. Mohammad Seif al-Islam al-Azhari, Vice Secretary General at Chittagong University and a number of WOAG branch members in Bangladesh as well as the staff at Mizan al-Salam Center, attended the Seminar.

Sheikh Sufi Mizan al-Rahman, head of WOAG Bangladesh, pointed out that al-Azhar moderate approach is the legitimate heir to the Prophetic lights, since it corrects the misconceptions and promotes mercy and amity between Muslims and non-Muslims. He added that the pillars of al-Azhar approach are the schools of Ahl al-Sunnah wal Jamaah, Ash’ari and Maturidi and those who agree with them, the four jurisprudential schools Hanafi, Maliki, Shafiʽi and Hanbali as well as Imam al-Junayd’s Sufism and those who follow him. He stressed that al-Ash’ari school adopts expanding the circle of faith and rejecting Takfir, unlike the so-called contemporary Salafis who, unnecessarily, practice intolerance and strictness. He added that the bases of Ash’ari school are Quran, Sunnah, apprehending the Companions, reasoning and transmission (Aql and Naql) and understanding the religious texts to manifest the moderation and tolerance of Islam.
