
The World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Central Africa delivered a lecture entitled “Concept of Citizenship” in Al-Masjid Al-Atiq at Embary of Central Africa. It is worth mentioning that 80 people attended this lecture which is part of the role played by the Organization’s Branch to confront extremist ideologies, correct misconceptions and spread the moderate thought.
Shaykh Abdul Kareem Othman, member of the Organization’s Branch, pointed that the concept of citizenship is, simply, based on equality among people in a particular geographic area and on the fact that they have equal rights and duties and that there is no racial or religious discrimination among them. He stressed the significance of national affiliation and that it is the duty of each nation to provide security and justice to its citizens so that they can create freely in a nation they are affiliated to.
In addition, he called for discarding violence and disputes as well as spreading moderation.
