Al-Azhar Warns against Misusing Support Provided to Neediest Countries to Conceal Islamic Identity

Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif followed up with efforts exerted by international institutions and civil society organizations in supporting the neediest countries, providing safe livelihoods, promoting educational and health systems in these countries, and introducing human, women, and child rights. These efforts are also directed towards opening up real opportunities for the advancement of these societies through offering scholarships and opportunities to be acquainted with experiences of the most developed countries as well as endeavoring to create social awareness of various issues, especially in the midst of difficult circumstances that the world has been witnessing for more than a decade.

Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif stressed that it appreciates and supports these efforts and encourages their continuance. However, it strongly warned against using these efforts to infiltrate Muslim societies and target Islam, especially when it comes to the family system and inheritance rules that were clearly stated in the Holy Quran and elaborated on and interpreted in the Prophetic Sunnah. Such infiltration attempts to distort the Divine justice with regard to rules of inheritance in Islam by portraying them as being unjust to women as well as infringing upon their rights. These false claims are presented in conferences and seminars, and demands are put forward to change these rules under the pretext of women’s equity and equal rights with men.

Moreover, Al-Azhar called for respecting the rules of Islam and putting an end to misdirecting support provided to Muslim societies with the aim of changing its religious identity as well as stopping directly or indirectly attacking Muslim sanctities through supporting currents within societies that work around the clock to implement schemes that target undermining the rules of Islam and distorting its image. Finally, Al-Azhar called for reflecting upon the rules of marriage and inheritance that Allah Almighty legislated in Islam and learning lessons from their principles and fundamentals upon which Divine wisdom and justice are founded. Al-Azhar also called for examining the reality of societies that let aside religion and substituted man for the Divine Creator as well as exploring the consequences such as family disintegration, marriage without love or mercy, and children without a mother, a father, or rights. Al-Azhar also called for studying the Divine system of Allah that honored and preserved women, guaranteed their rights, and rendered them the cornerstone of a civilized society.
