Al-Azhar Graduates Branch in Somalia: Extremist Groups Interpret the Religious Texts to Serve their Own Ends

Al-Azhar Graduates branch in Qardho, Somalia, held a lecture entitled “Confronting Extremism and Exaggeration” in “Al-Noor” mosque.

It is worth mentioning that Khedr Mahmoud Golid al-Azhari, Head of the branch, delivered the lecture. During the lecture, al-Azhari said that extremism and exaggeration turn against the Ummah, stressing that true Islam has nothing to do with these extremist phenomena. He added that the verses the extremists use, serve their narrow ends, warning the young people to join these extremist groups, calling for providing them with a moderate Azhari approach that denounces violence and extremism. Furthermore, the lecture was attended by some Sheikhs and scholars and was translated into the local Somali language.
