
Officials of The World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates head branch in Cairo met virtually through video conferencing with officials of the Organization’s Branch in Malaysia, including Dr. Mohammad Fakhr Al-Deen, President of Malaysia Branch and Dr. Ahmad Yussuf, Treasurer, to design and discuss future action plan for confronting extremist ideologies.
Prof. Mohammad Al-Mahrawasy, Vice-Chairman of the Organization head office in Cairo, stated that the Organization’s branches worldwide are a communication channel between Al-Azhar and Azharis abroad. He also stressed that officials at the Organization’s headquarters in Cairo are always keen on promoting channels of communication between the head branch and foreign branches to follow up with recent events and activities. He highlighted that the Organization shoulder the responsibility of bringing Azharis together to promote disseminating moderate Azhari thought, to confront violence as well as extremism, to anchor the moderate Azhari approach among youth and to protect them from extremist groups.
Moreover, Osama Yassin, Vice-Chairman of the Organization head office in Cairo, highlighted the importance of completing database of Azharis in Malaysia to be able to carry out the mission of the Organization and benefitting from Al-Azhar Graduates there in confronting extremist ideology through Al-Azhar moderate approach. He also pointed to the significance of translating publications of the Organization, in coordination with the Organization head office in Cairo.
Officials of the Organization’s Branch in Malaysia presented the Branch’s recent events and activities. In addition, Dr. Mohammad Fakhr Al-Deen, President of Malaysia Branch, extended his thanks to officials of the head office saying “There are thousands of Al-Azhar Graduates in Malaysia who spread the true image of Islam and anchor moderation. We are truly proud of them.”
Finally, officials of the Organization’s Branch in Malaysia expressed their willingness to qualify Malaysian students with Arabic language skills before joining Al-Azhar University through cooperation with Shaykh Zayed Center for Teaching Arabic to Non-Natives.
