Director General of Religious Affairs in Indonesia: Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif is a Prestigious Academic Reference for the Muslims of Indonesia with its Balanced and Refined Approach

Prof. Kamaruddin Amin, the Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, said that the graduates of al-Azhar from Indonesia take pride in their affiliation with this prestigious academic institution, which is considered their reliable academic reference. As al-Azhar ash-Sharif is known for its profound and balanced academic approach, serving the issues of the Islamic nation through the knowledge of its scholars and honorable leaders. He emphasized the commitment of religious institutions in Indonesia to actively enhance continuous collaboration with the esteemed al-Azhar, including the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates.

This came during the visit of Prof. Kamaruddin Amin, the Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, to the headquarters of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in Cairo, where he met with the Organization’s academic leaders. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss avenues for mutual cooperation between the two parties in the fields of intensive academic training for preachers, Imams, and legal coordinators in Indonesia. Additionally, the discussion covered the area of caring for Indonesian students studying at al-Azhar ash-Sharif in academic, cultural, and social aspects.

Moreover, Prof. Mohammad al-Mahrasawy, Vice-Chairman of the Organization said that al-Azhar graduates in Indonesia enjoy a good reputation among their peers and occupy various leadership positions and entities within the country. This undoubtedly reflects the success of al-Azhar institution in fulfilling its global mission by embracing the sons of al-Azhar immigrants as ambassadors of al-Azhar in their countries. They achieve what the people of the Islamic world aspire to accomplish in their respective nations.

Furthermore, Prof. al-Mahrasawi also emphasized the Organization’s eagerness and readiness for fruitful collaboration in serving the sons of al-Azhar from Indonesia, academically, culturally, and developmentally. He underscored the Organization’s commitment to removing obstacles, providing them with the skills that help them play effective roles in their societies.

The meeting was attended by Osama Yassin, Vice-Chairman of the Organization’s Board of Directors, Prof. Abdel Dayyem Nusseir, Secretary-General of the Organization, Prof. Hasan al-Sagheer, Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars and Director of al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers (AIATIP). From the Indonesian side, Prof. Mukhles Hanafi, Secretary-General of the Organization’s branch in Indonesia, was present.
