The branch of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in Pakistan held a lecture entitled ‘The Virtues of the Companions and the Family of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)’ in the Norany mosque in Karachi.
During the lecture, Sheikh Mohammad Aslam Reda al-Azhari, the Vice-President and the Secretary-General of the branch, pointed out that Allah Almighty has bestowed a great blessing upon humanity by sending messengers and prophets to them, delivering glad tidings and warnings, guiding them from darkness to light by the permission of Allah. This is so that they have no excuse after the messengers. They are the ones who lead the procession of humanity towards faith and truth. Around them (May Allah’s blessings be upon them), are men who spread their call after them. These men are at the forefront of those around the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). They are the best people after the prophets and messengers in knowledge, action, affirmation, and companionship with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). They engaged in the Jihad for the sake of Allah and calling to His religion. They achieved the utmost in knowledge, virtue, and known merits, reaching a status that no one before or after them has attained. Allah chose them to receive revelation, accompany the noble Prophet (PBUH), and adhere to the righteous religion. In all aspects of their lives, they followed the straight path. Allah praised them for their strong faith, sound methodology, upright speech, righteous deeds, and excellent character, and He expressed His satisfaction with them. He promised them gardens of bliss. They received Allah’s purification and praise, the love of His Prophet (PBUH), and his mention of their virtues.
In the books of beliefs, Islamic scholars emphasize the status of the companions in the Muslim community. They highlight their virtues and influence, defending their honor and safeguarding their sanctity. The companions were the close associates of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), bearing his message. They entered history through its widest gates, earning glory, honor, and precedence in all aspects. Thus, they deserve continuous mention and the recounting of their virtues until the Day of Judgment, a deserving and complete commemoration in which many residents of the city of Karachi also participate.
