Deputy of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Mohammad Al-Duweiny, announced that Al-Azhar’s various sectors have begun responding to allegations raised in the arena, which aim to undermine established thought and what has been ingrained in the nation’s conscience, deliberately distort heritage, and falsely accuse knowledge and scholars.
In a statement on his personal social media pages, the Deputy of Al-Azhar indicated that Al-Azhar’s various sectors have prepared themselves to demonstrate the fallaciousness of these allegations, in different forms: written and audiovisual, through trained scholars and researchers capable of comprehending and refuting allegations, in a manner consistent with Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif’s methodology of countering ideology with ideology.
Moreover, he affirmed that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, with its scholars and students, bears a great responsibility and courage in defending the truth with truth, adhering to the ethics of research and debate, without defamation or offense. He added that predecessors have addressed these resurfacing allegations, exposing their flaws, weaknesses, and worthlessness, in a manner that silences every claimant.
He also clarified that this response from Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif comes from the standpoint of preserving the religion so that those who do not properly understand its sciences do not breach its sanctity. Furthermore, he noted that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif had recognized this flawed narrative early on, closely monitoring it, and that its previous statements would have sufficed had these individuals returned to reason, but they persisted in their misguidance.
