Next Monday: An Overseas Tour for the Grand Imam in Southeast Asia
His Eminence the Grand Imam of al-Azhar and President of the Muslim Council of Elders Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb will embark on a new overseas tour of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, at the beginning of next month. This visit comes in response to official invitations extended to His Eminence by the three countries. The tour aims to explore avenues of cooperation and to enhance the role of Al-Azhar ash-Sharif, leveraging its vast experience and extending its preaching and educational services in the three countries.
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar is scheduled to meet with officials and religious, cultural, and community leaders in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. His Eminence is also keen to hold meetings with university students and youth to discuss the most prominent emerging issues on the religious and social scenes. Additionally, he will meet with imams, preachers, muftis, and those in charge of religious and fatwa-issuing institutions.
