The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates’ branch in Benin organized a lecture under the title of “Ash’aris: Who Are They and Their Doctrines”, in Porto-Novo city, with the presence of 70 attendees.
Preacher Ibrahim Abdul Hafiz Tijani, member of the branch, stated that Ash’aris are Islamic school, followers of Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash’ari. They adhere to the methodology of Ahl al-Kalam in stating doctrines and correcting violators. He added that Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash’ari is the founder of Ash’arism, explaining the difference between the early and late Ash’ari scholars.
