Prof. Abbas Shouman, President of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates and Secretary General of al-Azhar Council of Senior Scholars, received a delegation from The European Muslim Leaders Majlis (EULEMA) in Brussels. The delegation consisted of Mr. Yahya Sergio, President of EULEMA, Mrs. IlhamAllah Chiara, member of the Majlis, Mr. Abdul Samad el-Yazidi, President of Central Council of Muslims in Germany and Dr. Fayed Mohammad Saeed, Secretary General for the Commission of Fatwa and Sharia Affairs at London Central Mosque.
During the meeting, Prof. Abbas Shouman underlined the Organization’s readiness to provide all sorts and means of cooperation for the different Islamic institutions, for the sake of spreading the righteous moderate Islamic approach and confronting the misconceptions disseminated against Islam abroad.
Further, His Eminence highlighted the role played by the European Muslim women in clarifying the true image of Islam and raising new generations of European Muslims with in-depth knowledge of the fundaments and judgments of moderate Islam. On his part, Mr. Yahya Sergio stated that EULEMA seeks to gather all Islamic leaderships all over Europe under one umbrella, in order to challenge the misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. He stressed that EULEMA is looking forward to cooperate with all divisions at al-Azhar ash-Sharif in such concern.
